What Is An IP Address

IP Address (Internet Protocol Address)


Every machine on the internet has a unique identifying number called on IP address. An IP address is a numerical name appointed to every device which is connected to a every computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. A typically IP address looks like this 192.168.1.1.

To make it easier for us to remember. IP address are normally expand in decimal format as a doted decimal number like the above but computers communications in binary form look at the same IP address in binary form 11011000, 00011011, 00111101, 10001001.

The four numbers in an IP address acted because they each have eight position when viewed in binary form. Each acted can contain any value between 0 to 255 combine the four acted you get a possible 4.294.961.296.

The IP address that are used to give unique name to each and every computer. Are basically categorized in different class. These classes are basically use to define the range. The various class that are present to define. IP addressing are use follows- 

Default Networks:-

The IP address of 0.0.0.0

Class A Address: -

This class is for very large networks such as a major international company. The network field is seven bit long and the host field is of 24 bit long, so the network field can have numbers between 1-126 but the host number will range from 0.0.0.0 to 127.555.255.255. These in class A there can be 126 types of network and 17 million host. The 0 in the first field identify that it is a class A network factor. 

Class B:-

In class B format the first two fields identify the network and the number in the first field must be in the range 128 to  191 class B network are large host number 0.0 and 255.255 are reserved so there can be up to 65534(2(16)- 2)

Class C:-

In class C format the first black covers address from 192.0.0.0 to 192.0.0.255 and the last black cover address from 223.255.255. to 0 to 223.255.255.255.


IP version 6 is the next generation of the internet protocol designed to replace IPV4 on the internet address are 128 bits(16 byte) wides, even with a generous assignment of network blocks will more than suffice for the foreseeable to check Ex- 2001 adds 85a3 08d3 1319.892c.0370.7339.

What is an Array
